Join the Irving J. Block Legacy Society by including The Brotherhood Synagogue in your estate plans. Named in honor of our beloved founding rabbi, this special society recognizes those who make a lasting impact through planned giving. There are several meaningful and relatively simple ways to do so: 

Include Brotherhood Synagogue in Your Will

A bequest is one of the easiest ways to leave a legacy. You can add language to your will directing a gift to the Synagogue for general purposes or a specific program, such as Tikvah, the Homeless Shelter, or School Scholarships. Consult your attorney for guidance, but a simple clause might read: 
"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to The Brotherhood Synagogue, a nonprofit organization located at 28 Gramercy Park South, New York, NY 10003, the sum of $___ to be used for its general charitable purposes." 

Name the Synagogue as a Beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy 

By designating The Brotherhood Synagogue as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, you can create a substantial gift while paying only the cost of the premiums. Upon your passing, the Synagogue will receive the policy’s proceeds, allowing you to make a meaningful contribution beyond what may be possible during your lifetime. 

Designate Brotherhood Synagogue for an IRA or Financial Account Distribution

Naming The Brotherhood Synagogue as a beneficiary of your IRA, savings, checking, or brokerage account ensures your assets pass to the Synagogue tax-free, as 501(c)(3) organizations do not pay income tax. Additionally, these gifts bypass probate, maintaining privacy and expediting the transfer.
